One of the largest hostas available, ‘Elegans’ has deep, smoky blue foliage with a slight hint of frost. The heart-shaped leaves remind me of a handheld paddle with deeply defined veins. White flowers rise above the leaves on long stems. Though slugs love hostas, this one is usually left untouched. This early-blooming, clumping perennial has thick, round, corrugated, powder-blue leaves 8 to 10 inches long, topped by lilac-tinted white or pure white flowers rising just above the foliage in early spring. Use in the back of a mixed border or as landscape specimens.
